Power Outage Last Night

I haven't seen any other reports of this. About 2:30am this morning (Monday 15 June) I woke up to find my power in Rockridge was out, and had been for some time since the entire of my refrigerator was warm. Based in what I could see, the outage extended as far as Broadway at College and (what looked like) Telegraph. Emeryville was still "on". The power came back on around 3:20am. Am I the only one who noticed the extent?

  1. We are up past Village Market and were out as well. The dark woke my daughter...how is that even possible?

  4. I too had power lost until 3:20am. I'm in the oakland hills above the tunnel. It was totally blacked out here. Did you learn of the cause? We rarely loose power.

  5. We're near where Broadway hits 24. I haven't learned the cause, though it's interesting that the Chronicle this morning has an article about PG&E's outage record. At first I thought that would be the story. Nothing on the Tribune or anywhere as far as I can see.

  6. I was out too in the Oakland Hills directly above the BART tunnel. I have a health issue and require a breathing machine. But I was without oxygen between 12:30A and 3:21A. I'm sure there was permanent damage to my brain.

  7. Still nothing anywhere. Kind of eerie. I contacted PG&E online; we'll see if we learn anything.

  9. I'm right next to the tunnel, too. It was really weird because a loud sound like an engine or some kind of mechanical equipment revving up woke me--the lights were still on and then suddenly they went out. It was pitch black!

  10. I live near the Moraga Ave. exit off highway 13. Our power went out about 2 am and came back a little before 3:30.
The accident on 880 near the Braodway exit took place around 2 a.m. Could these two events be related?

  11. So did anyone ever find out why it went out. I heard a shot like a gunshot about 4:00 am

  12. Not for sure, and only an auto-response email back from my on-line request. I might call later today, but who knows if after two days they'll even be able to tell me.
